However, technological improvements have enabled the government to launch easier, paperless electronic verification alternatives.

One efficient method involves creating an Electronic Verification Code (EVC), which is a unique 10-digit alphanumeric string associated with your Permanent Account Number (PAN). It is important to note that each EVC is applicable to a single return only; filing a revised return necessitates generating a fresh code. Once you complete verification via EVC, there is no requirement to post the physical ITR-V acknowledgement to the CPC.

Steps to E-Verify Using Your HDFC Bank Account

Follow the instructions below to verify your return through HDFC NetBanking:

1. Log in to your HDFC NetBanking account using your authorized credentials.
2. Locate the section dedicated to income tax filing on the main dashboard. Select the ‘e-verify’ option, which will redirect you to the official government e-filing website.
3. Navigate to the ‘My Account’ tab on the portal to request an EVC. This code will be sent to your registered mobile number and email address.
4. Enter the received EVC to finalize the electronic verification of your income tax return.

Prerequisites for EVC Verification

Before attempting this method, please ensure the following conditions are met:

• Your banking institution must be authorized by the Income Tax Department to offer EVC services.
• The mobile number and PAN name registered with the income tax portal must match the records held by your bank exactly.
