GSTN started a pilot with 4,000 taxpayers to test system capacity for 80 lakh monthly filings ahead of the GST rollout.
The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has commenced a live pilot program to test its return filing system. Approximately 4,000 taxpayers are participating in this two-week trial. This initiative prepares the system for the projected 80 lakh monthly filings expected once the Goods and Services Tax (GST) becomes operational in July. The minimum number of returns a company must file annually is 37, which includes three monthly and one annual return. Experts have previously expressed reservations regarding the portal’s capacity to manage such a substantial volume of data. This ongoing live test is expected to address these concerns and validate the GSTN’s operational readiness. This development was initially reported by The Hindu Business.
